Amanda L. Suchanek, Ph.D., is a biochemist and molecular microbiologist by training. She has 20 years of experience on the bench between academia and industry. In molecular oncology, she started as a clinical research technician at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. With her interest piqued in molecular biology, she went back to school and earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from West Virginia University. Dr. Suchanek completed a postdoctoral fellowship studying nutrient biochemistry and metabolism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Public Health. Before joining bioMerieux, she was the Senior R&D Scientist supporting molecular microbiology at a significant national reference laboratory. Currently, she serves as a Medical Advisor with the bioMerieux U.S. Medical Affairs team specializing in microbiology and laboratory workflow for the eastern U.S. Advocacy for the laboratory as it relates to diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship and making science understandable and accessible for every audience are the two most important things she tries to work on daily. Outside of work, she is usually working on the farm, riding her horses, or fixing fences in her spare time.
