Laura Weigand, BSN, RN, CCRN, TNS, works in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to patients with sepsis within a rural community-based health system that serves a 150-mile radius in the Midwest.

Laura plays a vital role in the development, evaluation, and implementation of the organizational sepsis program across the Blessing Health System. Laura also assists in hospital utilization and resource management, coordination of care through the continuum, and monitoring and reporting quality outcomes.

Laura educates staff on consistent care and treatments of these patient populations. She also plays a collaborative role with all providers in the identification, care, and treatment of sepsis populations. Laura ensures current evidence is utilized in the treatment of sepsis and fluid resuscitation.

Laura has 38 years’ experience as a critical care nurse acting in a leadership role for the last 25 years and as a sepsis coordinator over the last two years.
