Dr. Sakoulas earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, and completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1998. From 1998-1999 he served as chief medical resident in the Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. From 1999 to 2002, he was a fellow in infectious diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he developed interests in Gram positive infections. He is an active infectious diseases clinician in the Sharp Healthcare System in San Diego. His academic affiliation is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, Division of Host-Microbe Systems and Therapeutics where he is part of the Collaborative to Halt Antibiotic-Resistant Microbes (CHARM).
