Tracye Proffitt, PhD, RN, CNE, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Proffitt’s research focuses on adults who have survived severe, life-threatening illnesses involving a stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) and includes work on post-intensive care syndrome and ICU delirium. Her current work is focused on the physical problems experienced by ICU survivors. She has a clinical background in acute and critical care and extensive experience as a nurse educator. Dr. Proffitt is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Southern Nursing Research Society.
