Mary Lou Manning, PhD, CRNP, CIC, FAPIC, FSHEA, FAAN, is a nationally recognized leader in infection prevention and control and the nurses’ role in antibiotic stewardship. In 2015 she served as the President of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), was invited to the White House Forum on Antibiotic Stewardship, and named one of the “50 Experts Leading the Field of Patient Safety” by Becker's Hospital Review. She has authored over 55 peer-reviewed papers, created a framework for antibiotic stewardship nursing practice, and integrated infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship principles and content into undergraduate nursing curricula. Dr. Manning is Professor, Senior Associate to the Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Director, Center for Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship, at Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson College of Nursing, in Philadelphia.
