Description:

This presentation will describe and provide supporting data for the improvement efforts from two distinct health systems. Presenters will discuss the steps undertaken by a large Northern California health system to improve process and outcomes for the care of patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. Presenters will also examine several VA Medical Centers'  general sepsis management experiences. Work of both healthcare systems emphasizes the importance of recognition of sepsis as a medical emergency and structured sepsis management.
